and now a word from our sponsors

Devondale long life milk tastes like real milk because it is real milk. Hold on. Buy our milk, it tastes like milk because it is milk. Fantastic!

You'll have to go with me on this one because I can't find the ad, and I think it may have been pulled anyway because it was a bit crap. Picture this...cool chick filmed in B&W smoking while riding a motorbike. Very stylish. The same chick, still stylised but without the fag. Catch line is something like 'keep the cool, but stop smoking'. Keep the cool? So you were cool, so smoking is cool? Or have a missed something. I'll keep looking for the ad.

Found it, courtesy of an ad on the back of a bus parked this lunchtime in the Domain...it is the good people from Nicotinell (actually Novartis) who say:

A pretty woman is shown in different pictures and poses with a cigarette in her hand, as the narrator talks about giving up smoking and losing the smoke, but keeping the fire the pretty woman is seen riding on a motorbike

I guess it looks nicer on screen than some bloke in a lab coat squeezing fat from an artery or a surgeon drawing the guide lines on the leg he is about to amputate. I'm not a smoker, so I don't know what advertising, if any, would encourage me to stop. Lets face it, THESE THINGS MAY KILL YOU on the side of a packet is not enough to put many smokers off, so a film noir chick on a bike is hardly going to do the trick.

Nice one on the side of a bus today from Bundaberg Ginger Beer. A very sexy female midrift and a line something like 'the Bundaberg Ginger Beer gut'. Hmm. This stuff tastes fantastic. However, it has 40g of sugar per 375ml bottle. So I doubt you'd get the flat stomach. You may get diabetes and tooth decay. Pass the bottle. Did I mention that the stuff is gorgeous?

From the news. The Sydney Mordning Herald carried a story about an auction for paintings by Janey, an orang-utan in Sandiego Zoo. They stated that Janey is a 44-year-old endangered orang-utan from Borneo. I don't think so. In fact I would think that Jeney, living as she does in San Diego Zoo, is possibly the world's least endangered orang-utan. She'd be in trouble if she was still living in amongst all that lovely tropical hardwood in Borneo. Stoopid monkey, living in what is so much nicer as a coffee table than a habitat...and yes, I know orang-utans are apes.

Today has been typical and not a lot has happeend. However, I did manage a personal best lap of the park at 30.33.5. Amazing what a bit of anger can do. I was feeling quite good but what pushed me over the edge was me getting really pissed off about my eye (my eye! my eye! yawn.) Sort of irrational anger, all shouting at myself about how angry I was with life the universe and everything. And I ran faster. Simple. Of course I'd rather walk and regain my ability to read with the right. Oh well.

Anything else? Met Sal in Pitt Street Mall at lunch and had one of those "HELLO! I believe I ordered the large" large coffees. And this morning I thought Sydney was a bit foggy but it was probably smoke because it is heating up (39 degrees in Penrith tomorrow) and there are a few bushfires.
