the sun never shines on TV

We have a very nice television. The picture is crisp and sharp and the sound is good form the inbuilt peakers and very good from my old surround system. I watched Toy Story when the kids visited over Christmas and was blown away by the difference in picture quality between my old CRT and the new LCD panel. Deep breath. So I am not especially impressed with the lack of digital channel choice here in Sydney. The oligopoly that is channels 7,9 and 10 do not seem to offer extras to digital viewers, unlike Blighty where the free to air channels seem to be falling over themselves to offer extra digital options. But wait, there's more! Or rather less.

Apart from Channel 9 we play a daily lottery on quality and presence of Channels 7 and 10. Ten has quality issues. It jitters and freezes in that digital way that makes digital tele unwatchable whereas fuzzy old analogue signals are tolerable. And Channel 7 has disapeared. It was there when we first got the tele and now it's gone. Maybe we need a new arial or to reposition the one that we do have. Dunno. I suspect, however, that digital TV in Sydney is simply shit. Local DTV forums are full of folks haring my pain. The video store will start to love us.

In other news. I am once again man alone tonight - maybe I'll watch some Channel 9, dunno yet. Sal is spending the night on the Central Coast at her folks place so that early tommorow morning she can go visit, and she hopes tak ownership of, a rescue dog. A Briard. I've seen a picture and I've read a little about the breed. I'm looking forward to seeing how she goes, following closely on from the disappointment she felt at missing out on a labradoodle puppy earlier in the week.
