I feel like I've had been on holiday, four days of hosting my bro and Ruth now complete. I'm about ready for bed, so I'll whip through this...
They arrived early on Thursday and we met them at the airport and took them to our place to drop off bags before we headed for breakfast at Bondi (tick), had a feed, had a walk along the coast track (tick) and watched a few surfers in the choppy but reasonably large surf (tick.) e then headed home so they could chillax (new word from today, chill and relax in a crash, geddit?) I took Rowlf for a swim, they had a swim and then when they were a little refreshed we headed for the city. Ruth and Sal went to see a modern interpretation of Swan Lake at the Opera House (tick) while Darren and I wandered over to the Rocks (tick) for a few beers. Thursday done.
Friday we went over to Bills (tick) for breakfast, after Darren and I had walked the hounds (tick), copped a soaking and I had got thoroughly pissed off with Rowlf, who had been a git. We then headed to South Head to have a look over the coastal path and the cliffs (tick. Smallish tick this one, as the weather, which has been pretty shitty, delivered rain and wind so we legged it to the cliff-edge, took a look and legged it back to the car. It was somewhat dryer as we took a look at Nielson Park (tick) and wandered along the harbour foreshore (tick.) We had a pub crawl in Padington to get to, so heded home to scrub up, get changed and head out. We then met up with Mara (birthday girl), sis Jo, bro Adam, ma, pa and sundry mates for some beers and a wander in the eastern suburbs (ah hel, why not ive that a tick too!)
Feeling not so bad on Saturday (too old for hardcore pubcrawling these days so Friday was not a big one) we had been blessed with some dry weather so we decided to walk to the city, over the bridge (tick) and into the Rocks (tick) where we met Mike and Maureen and Jo for lunch at the Harbourview (tick, I guess) and then went to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA, tick) to get annoyed at some modern nonsense before strolling up to and through the Strand Arcade (tick) and Queen Victoria Building (QVB) before heading home to veg in front of the Mighty Boosh DVD I'd bought en route. On the walk in we saw parrots (tick), eastern waster dragon lizards (tick), brush turkeys (tick) and kookaburra (tick. OK, more ticks than necessary, could have just said sundry local fauna.)
How many ticks?
