SIX people are dead after the second serious boating accident on Sydney Harbour in little more than a year, prompting calls for tougher safety measures.
A half-cabin work boat carrying 14 people, almost double its capacity, was hit by a fishing boat off Bradleys Head at 2.30am yesterday after it was taken from Balmain without the owner's permission for a joyride.
Do we need tougher safety measures to protect those who steal boats, overload them with drinkers and in the middle of the night motor around blind-corners into shipping lanes? I think not. We need fewer morons.
Lets see how the investigation progresses.
