Port Stephens

Wednesday started dry and just a little overcast and as if it was not going to rain but ti didn't look cracking so I kept some long trousers on as we left for Tea Gardens and the ferry to Port Stephens. As it turned out the day developed into a cracker and I spent quite a bit of it sweating my arse out. We parked up by the river, I stayed with the car and a sleeping AJ and Sal went to get coffees from the place we'd had brekkie he day before. By the time she got back AJ was awake, so we picked a spot on the grass to give her a feed while we waited for departure time.

The ferry is a small wooden low riding cute thing. There were not too many guests so we had plenty of room. AJ was loving looking out at the water and loves the wind in her hair - in her car seat and with the car windows open she holds a giggling grin as her hair flutters all over the place. The trip over the bay is very pleasant. The first half of the hour goes through he river and into the bay proper and the second half is straight over to Port Stephens. On a good day you see dolphins and Wednesday was a good day. We had the company of a couple of dolphins in the bay, the boat slowed so we all got a view of them and then it was back to the trip.

Our time in Port Stephens was pleasant but not great blog fodder, so I'll skim it. Found some porn sunnies for $11 that I would wear on Melbourne Cup day. Found a decent cafe and had a coffee, went for a sweaty walk around, hoping to get to Fly Point but seeing it was a way away deciding against it and turning back for town. We found a cafe-bar by the waterside (not much of an achievement really) that had a decent menu and proper Belgian, German and Czech beers. That'll do us. And then it was the ferry home again. All in all a very nice day.

Have I mentioed yet that I'd slept very night on the floor next to AJ? Probably not. Monkey bum wasn't sleeping too well on her own and rather than let her scream her buttski off I was kiping next to her so Sal could get a good run at a night's sleep.
