dull tuesday

Mid-Janathon lull? Don't know. Nothing new here, all a bit let's go round again, which I found myself humming to myself as I jogged in today.

We were back to normal this morning. AJ woke at 5am and given the choice of a post-milk sleep on the new lounge or coming for a walk with me and the dogs she chose the walk. A good chance for me to see how my legs and feet felt after yesterday's iffiness, and an opportunity for Sal to stay in bed for a bit longer. Legs had the ache I have now come to recognise and ignore, knees a little clicky but pretty much OK. Blister on the left little toe no longer an issue. Walk went fine so I decided that today would be a run to work and a lap of the city, aiming for 18km and a couple of km credit above my new target average.

The run to work is fairly easy now. There is one semi-tough climb that I find myself attacking in classic old-man-running style (or lack thereof) with small shuffling steps, elbows a little higher and wider than I'd like, hunched a bit more than is good for me. After the climb from the gully to the freeway bridge it is mainly downhill and quite cruisy. Work arrives in 7.4km(ish) and today I did the bridge in 6min 15sec, which is a way off my best but even further off my worst. All things considered I made it to work in a half decent time. I dropped my bag and then headed out to do a lap of the City, a course which does not yet bore me. Odd. Familiarity often breeds contempt. I follow the Sydney Half Marathon route and that may be why I pick the pace up a bit. I did 10km of the route in around 48mins, diverted a little at the end to make sure I got 18km under my belt before work.

Running conditions felt waaaay better this morning, humidity having seemed to have dropped right off. That said, when I checked I found it was still sitting at 75%. But there was a bit of a breeze blowing, it was overcast and only 21 degrees.

And that's it for today, next run should be lunchtime tomorrow.

Looks like you had a good run, I'd love to run through Sydney. You're probably adapting to the humidity. You're doing well.

At least now you're checking the humidity AFTER your runs! Take care of the legs.... The beginning of the end is in sight!

Good runs, you're doing really well. Although it's a bit odd isn't it when you think 75% humidity isn't too bad.

@kathryn @jules I think, just, that I'm getting used to it. Sort of. Maybe I'm just resigned to it and should stop moaning so much. Maybe.
