faster than a Lambourghini

My right knee felt bloody awful - seized, despite (or because?) I'd iced and elevated it - so I would miss the comapny of AJ but not the weight on my back. There was no pain in the knee and it still worked, so I grabbed the dogs and head out towards the park. Sal and AJ caught up with me at the coffee shop. An uneventful morning was avoided when a staffy knocked Sal off her feet and then decided on some rough play with Rowlf, the two of them having to be pulled apart. All fur and feathers, poor form but no harm done. Some real poor form from me, because I didn't even know Sal had been knocked over until she told me later, once I'd got home. No idea what I'd been looking at.

The legs worked OK on the walk so I figured I'd stick with my original running plan for the morning and take the long way to work, which is part of one of my weekend loops but stopping short at the office. It would get me 18km. I toyed with the idea of adding The Bay Track to the run, taking the total out to 25km, but the humidity and time of day quickly counted that out.

As the knee warmed up it seemed to feel better. I have a bit of discomfort above each ankle on the inside of each leg when I start, but underway everything fell into place. It felt pretty humid again and I was my typical sweaty self, despite the route having plenty of downhill. Such is Sydney in January.

Victoria Road is typically nose-to-tail slow moving traffic apart from when the traffic is staionary. It is a bit of a lung buster in the rush hour, but over quickly enough. On the plus side I can now say that for a kilometre my creaking old legs are faster than a Lambourghini. As long as that kilometre is the rush hour and there is a traffic jam. Happy to get to the end today. Hardly any cloud and plenty of sun and the humidity, although dropping, had started at 85%. I struggled today. In the end I got a little over 18km and therefore kept up my average. I finished in around 90mins so was averaging around 5min/km. Not stunning, but not bad.

Three weeks down, 10 days left.
