popping not locking

I'm a popper. Not as in popping-and-locking but a blister popper. So after being nagged by a left-little-toe blister on the morning dog walk I got home and took a pin to "arghh Jesus J fucking CHRIST on a bike that hurt!" Wasn't expecting that. Pulled on my socks - ouch - and my runners - ouch - and took a walk around - ouchy ouchy ouch. Sod it. Took the shoe and sock off and had a look. Not much to see, so I decided I was just being soft and set off, trying not to hobble too much. The blister is an old friend whose been away for a while. He pops up along the side of a planter wart I've had for donkey's years. If I went back through my blog I suspect he appeared last on a previous Janathon.

One of the wonderful things about the human body is that if you ignore something that really isn't too bad then before too long your brain will stop complaining about it. So by about a kilometre the toe was not bothering me and my right hip was. I had a rotten couple of months last year and part of that was a hip problem. Not sure what it was, but I'm guessing a bruised bone. That's a proper guess. I don't know if you can even bruise a bone - I think I just heard that somewhere.

But that took my mind off of the ache in my thighs that I put down to general fatigue and dehydration. I'm not a fan of split training and there is only so much fluid I can take back on board after an evening run and before I head to bed for the standard January-night-toss-and-turn-and-not-really-sleep-very-well-at-all. As luck would have it tomorrow is going to a bit hotter after it plummets to 22 degrees tonight, so that's good news. No, hold on, I've got that wrong haven't I...

Fucking hell I'm off on another moan today. Sorry.

Got to work in a little over 11km and started working rehydrating before the run home. Before I left my urine looked clear enough, like weak apple juice, so I figured I was good to go. Slightly shorter run home because I went via Sal's office to pick up her new phone. Seems the iPhone 5 doesn't like taking a bit of a soaking - who knew? The run home is always better than the run to work (there, I've fucked myself for tomorrow when the run home will be horrible) and I scraped a bit over 10km for a daily total of a little over 21km. I'll take that.

Janathon total - 183km.
