nearly an armful

I became somewhat freaked out (eye blurry so we'll x-ray your spine) as I unchained the bike last night, then I kinda calmed down, cycled home and went for a run around the park before Mara fed me omlette on toast and I began my 12 hour fast before this morning's bloodtests. I went on to watch House later in the evening. Well, you never know, I may learn something about my pox from Hugh Laurie, MD.

The park was set up for the JP Morgan Corporate Chase event that has been postponed until today because of bad weather expected for Sydney yesterday the evening. The weather at the time scheduled for the race, as it turned out, was not too bad - although some branches were coming offtrees. I don't blame the organisers for, on the advice of the Bureau or Meteorology, postponing. Better than getting sued by someone who had a tree fall on them. It started to blow hard later in the evening and chuck it down with rain. This morning's Channel 7 weather report was from Mt. Baw Baw in Victoria. They had 30cm of snow overnight. All very festive and Christmas like. Just not in Australia. And last week there were bushfires in the same mountains. Weird Al Gore would have a thing or two to say about it all. I got the bus to work and it was maybe 16 degrees and that by local standards is cold. Damn cold.

Got to the blood doc at a little before 07:30 and had him take 6 of those little vials of blood from me. Apparently my list of ailments-to-check-for was not unusually long. Bad news was that after the test I should not - so will not - exercise for the rest of the day. No Tech Trot at lunchtime and no ring-in spot on the JP Morgan run - I'd been offered a spot yesterday as a couple of folks had dropped out; all I had to do was give a false name. And while I'm on bad news, my right eye is still dilated and I cannot read with it. Billboards are OK, but much smaller than that - forget it. But at least the fast is over, so chapter 1 of today is over banana bread and cappucino and before my first eye dropping...Time passes...well the Tech Trot has been potponed until Monday and that is good because it means I'll not miss out. Unless my cold gets worse, but at the moment it is confined to me nose, specifically my right nostril, and as long as it does not move below my kneck I will still be able to run. The trot was called off because of rain. This morning we have had showers. Proper rain showers, not drizzle but downpours.
