an English win!

Today the English beat the Australian's on their home soil. And that English is me and the sport is running, specifically the Westpac lunch time Tech Trot, an event I will acknowledge comes some way behind the Ashes and Rugby World Cup in grandeur. I'm a late comer to this years series, having started my contract in October. However, with one run left before the 2006 series closes I smashed over a minute from my personal best and posted the best tme of the year, I think, in front of resident whippet and (former) frontrunner, Mark. The course is 4.6km through the Domain and Botanical gardens. It is reasonably challenging because plenty of it is up hills (only little ones), you have tourists to dodge, a couple of hairpins and an old set of stone steps and it can be quite hot, especially when there is no breeze or you are protected from whatever breeze three is. At 4.6km t encourages you to run at a fast pace. Today I posted 17min 19s, a mad 1min 3s better than my already respectable PB and a full 25sec ahead of Mark's best. Would I rather have placed second and seen England win the second test? Of course. But i am looking forward to next week and seing if I can push my best a bit further, or if Mark can catch me.

In other exercise news...I got word from my bro that my gumf from the London Marathon mob has arrived and therefore it looks like I'm on for April 22nd. Do I wear the antique diving suit or the tutu?
