Today I am once again a scuba diver. I went to see Doc Geoff this morning so he could see how I am seeing and it seems I am far better. No more leaking or swelling. I have a blindspot that is small fry now we have ruled out the things that can send me blind or send me dead. Yes, dead. Some of the tests were for things that can kill. Happily I passed with flying colours and the Doc is far too much of a gentleman to subject me to biopsy in order to discover something relatively benign. So we will be putting his one down to bad luck and, we hope, that is the end of it. The blind spot and catarct damage, which is not in my direct line of sight, may clear up by themselves in time. Nice if they do, but I am happy with my sight as it is. My right eye is no longer as good as my left - blindspot will do that - but when I use them together my eyesight is, as far as I am concerned, damn fine. The best news is that I can restart scuba diving. OK, so the best news is I have not, it seems, got anything lethal, but you know what I mean. So I will renew my lapsed PADI membership, clean up my gear and get back in the water. At last. And I will start making plans to dive the HMAS Brisbane when I visit Noosa in August. And I will take pictures. And aquatic life will be good. And JCJ can stop lamenting the loss of a buddy. Buggered if I know what I would have been like if the Doc had said my underwater life was over. Not happy is pobably an understatement. Next checkup is in 4months and I can stop my one remaining eye drop once I've finished what little I have left. All good. A nice way to start the week.
