I left the office at about 5:20 and got straight on a bus that headed straight onto the Bridge. From that elevated position the City office buildings were glowing in the sunlight that was streaming under the cloud base. The way the light was hitting them - and the sails of the Opera House - was setting them alight so they glowed a bright, vivid golden orange. The sky remained a flat blue grey. Better was to come. The Bridge itself was being lit in the same light. The metalwork was being picked out, as were the towers, and they had a golden-orange tint to their normal colour. As I looked to the apartment blocks on the northern side of the harbour they too were lit up. I think the effect is hightened because of the angle that the light hits the buildings at - pretty well straight on - and the lack of shadows because of the direction the light is coming from. This is all helped by a very clear air.
Anyway, it was all incredibly impessive, far better than those few words and something I really should have got a picture of. If it looks like these conditions will repeat I'll walk over the Bridge and take some pics. The pic here, taken as I wandered home form the bus stop is, well, ordinary.
So my Bridge news at the end of the day is far better than that at the beginning. Awoke this morning to find that a rivercat (ferry) had last night ploughed into and over a pleasure craft. Three dead, one missing, other hospitalised. Very bad news. From m office window I saw a fleet of boats on a body search this morning. News this evening says she - a 14y/o lass - is still missing. All very sad.
And it took 53 minutes for England to put a goal past the mighty Andorra. Sounds shit to me.
