Not a lot to report on for the end of the week. Wednesday passed in a bit of a knackered post long run blur and then it was Thursday. That meant TecTrot and as I was still feeling a bit sore I decided to take it easy. Until the final uphill 200m to the line. I spotted Simon. He runs the shorter course - and even then he cuts corners - and in the past he has made it over the line before me, not flogging himself from the start as I do. Not today sunshine. I belted the last part, heart rate up to about 190bpm. Simon and the other folks I passed on the home straight did not come back at me. On the way back to the office I spied a bunch of my soon-t0-be-colleagues out for a run in corporate t-shirts. Cool, new playmates. In other exercise related news. FUCK THIS HUMIDITY. No, really. It's getting silly now. Stop it with the humidity. Now. Please.
As well as the run I was back on the bike, so sweated my arse off morning, noon and afternoon. Thursday was an early start...need some lights. The early start was cool and I took a couple of moody black and white pics of workshops under the Bridge. Made a change, a slightly new perspective on the way to work. An early start means an early end and that means I could get Sally a birthday present...with 2 days to go. She's been a bit of a pain in the arse - 30th, big birthday, want to make sure it is right - so for the day I played it safe with some Australiana and got a waxed cotton jacket and a collar for Rumpole from R. M. Williams. Definitely a present dor Sal as I am not a fan of clothes and coats for dogs. Now, being Saturday, I can report that she loved them, as did the hound, who has already started sharpening his teeth on the new leather collar. Puppy smack down ensues. We'll go look for her proper present later.
And then Friday. But first, breakfast.
Breakfast done - local cafe - lawns mowed and gutters cleared of leaves. My gutter clearing efforts had to potential to amuse an audience that I was lucky not to have. I easily managed to get on to the carport roof, from where I could scoop out crud from the gutter that had overflowed in a mid-week storm. However, the carport roof seems higher from atop than ground level and I had to shout for Sal to come close the gate to the garden so I could step on to it and get down again. Panic over I had a shower and we headed to the shops (no complaining on wife's birthday) in the not-as-humid-but-now-stupidly-hot weather.
We bought nothing.
Back to Friday. Ran 30+mins at lunch in THAT humidity, did very little at work but started another blog; more a repository for my geek code than anything else. I figured that's better that having stuff saved all over the place and in various emails. Lets see how long it lasts. The day finished with some damn fine food at our local Lebanese Restaurant and Wood Fired Pizza er..Reataurant. Arax. Top end of reasonably priced, but damn fine, as I believe I already mentioned.
