so imagine my surprise when...

Regular readers and casuals alike will probably know that I was back in Blighty last month, more specifically in saa'f wess Laandan, where I grew up. Being back in the land of warm, twig-filled beer I felt obliged to have a few ales and on a number of occasions foun myself in Young's pubs. Young's is brewed in Wandsworth, South West London (translated for those unfamiliar with the local patois.) In my humble opinion, and remembering I am not a bearded, acrylic-clad beer-bore, most Young's beer is ordinary at best. They do some nice specials but the run of the mill stuff is, well, ordinary. Best of the better specials and the less ordinary brews, again in my humble, are the Oatmeal stout and Double Chocolate Stout. The latter does taste somewhat chocalatey (sp?) and all the more so if you think chocolate as you sup the stuff. Anyway, in the numerous Young's boozers I visited while in London I managed not once to find the stout - not once.

Here it comes...

So imagine my surprise when...

(told you so)

...I found several bottles of the choc stout in the fridge at the back of the bottle shop (offy) three doors down from the Vietnamese restaurant that Sal, sis-in-law Mara and I had dinner at tonight. In Crows Nest. Sydney.
