House Episode 6 - well, dur

The council, who need to approve our plans, sent us and all our neighbours a letter. They have done a survey of sorts and we live in an area subject to localised overland flooding. Basically, a hill leading down to a stream. They let us know that any development should not lend itself to flooding either our own or our neighbours' properies. Wow. No really, wow. We were going to dig a pit in the back garden that would fill with water and any overflow would piss into our neighbours kitchen. Guess we'll have to rethink. No, hold on, I think our plans are for something that won't flood in heavy rain. Sheesh. I do love the need for regulation the blindingly obvious. Sad but true - this is almost certainly necessary.

Anyway, we are meeting the architect next week to answer a few more questions and get ready for a "pre-DA" (Development Application) meeting. She will go through our plans with council so we know if we are ready to submit. That should be early in the new year. Fingers crossed we'll be submitted soon and building soonish.
