pondering a run

I didn't run yesterday but I did think about it. I didn't think about running yesterday - it was an official rest day, precisely the sort I'll not have in January. Rather, yesterday I thought about running. Thought about Beyond the Black Stump, the New Years Day Fatass run around Berowra Waters. It's a tough run. Thirty three kilometres of bush track that takes in a couple of pretty ugly hills, a ruined castle and two very short ferry trips. Did it in 2008 and it didn't quite kill me. Not quite.

It will be a good start to Janathon. Of course it could turn out to be a bad start to Janathon if it leaves me a knackered mess unable to walk let-alone run on Jan 2nd. But I'll be up at silly o clock in the morning anyway, unless AJ makes a resolution to not wake dad at 5am. The start is at 7am, so I can have some munch before the start. I pulled up OK after the weekend's 27km run to Manly and will take the Christmas weekend off, so I should be all good for it. And of course, if I can get around BtBS I reckon I will be able to get around the Six Foot Track.

Can't think of any compelling reasons not to have a crack at it, so as long as NSW doesn't catch fire I think I'll have a bash.

Any-hoo, today I did my usual 9km run around the foreshore, enlivened slightly when I found my path around the Siebel Hotel on Pier 1 blocked and decided that I could cut through the hotel and bar and reception instead of double all the way back. A little something fo the paying guests. Sydney is fairly tourist-lite at the moment, though there is one cruise ship in, but there are plenty of ankle biters to dodge now the school holidays have started. Keeps you guessing.
