podiatry plod

really quite large
Was not sure this one was going to be a good idea, bit I think I got away with it. I went over to see the house Sal and I want to buy and, what with it being 10mins from the beach, decided to head down to Manly for a barefoot run on the sand. There were plenty of reasons not to do it. I was knackered, I'd already had a run, I was going to our lock-up storage in the afternoon and needed some energy for that, I'd had pretty much no breakfast and sundry other stuff. But the thought that brushed these concerns aside was that a run in the sand might be just what the doctor ordered for my dodgy left foot. A nice exfoliation and a sanding - literally - of my scaly left little toe, a digit I'm sure you're already bored with (I know I am.) So I went to the beach.

There was another nagging concern and that is my history of getting horribly blistered feet when I run on sand. But when this has happened before it has been on reasonably long runs - over 10k. Today I wanted to clock 5k and not a step more. Oh, and before I forget, running in sand is really fucking exhausting and maybe not such a good idea when you're hungry and tired. Meh.

I parked at North Steyne and looked out to see some rather impressive waves, some three times the height of the surfers catching - and getting clattered - by them. If you look at the map and profile of my run it is very dull; flat and up and down. But I can assure you it was bloody fantastic to be out there today and i have no complaints about the view. I did stop a couple of times to dip my feet in the water and check for anything that looked like it might develop into anything that might stop me, but I got away with it. Nice to be barefoot and boardshorted too.
