how was your weekend?

There is a homeless persons' shelter on a street corner I walk past on my way to get a coffee each weekday morning. Today, Monday, as I wandered past I overheard one guy ask another "how was your weekend?"

That stopped me in my tracks that did.

How would the weekend for a homelss person be any different to a weekday? Is being homeless a fulltime job like any other? At weekends do the homeless go home to their families? I didn't hear the answer; maybe it was "not bad, took the kids to footy training on Saturday, did a bit of work in the garden and had a few friends round for a barbeque on Sunday." Followed by "not looking forward to work this week, they're forecasting snow for Wednesday night."

For the sensitve reader, I do sympathise with the plight of the homeless, blah blah blah, said for comic effect only blah blah blah.
