On the way back from Rowlf's swim I stopped for my usual coffee and porridge at Bonds Corner Cafe. Picked up the Sun Herald which, I thought, was a news paper.
Front page. Full splash of a Qantas plane dumping fuel as it returns to the airport having developed a fuel leak. OK, fair enough, sounds like news. Opening the paper I read about one of the Veronicas, twin sister god-awful plastic popstresses. She is considering quitting the business because topless shots of her have appeared on a porn site. Diddums. Soon after I learn that a couple of Aussie swimmers have broken off their romance to concentrate on their swimming and, if they reunite after the Olympics, their earning potential will go through the roof. Fascinating.
I presevered, reading fewer and fewer lines of each more banal story until I got to page thirty one - yes, thirty one - where I learnt that the New South Wales police have just been granted sweeping new powers to snoop on anyone without needing to get permisions. Page thirty one. Well, hardly seems as newsworthy as the Veronics.

Propaganda is wonderful isn't it. Almost a bit like, look here, look here, while I have my friend steal your wallet, only here in NSW we steal your liberty. Wonder how much the media companies were paid off.
After reading your post I was disgusted by this new Police power, but it still took my two days to find an article on it. Here is a link
